Update from the Principal.
WOW. We have had such a fantastic end to the year with our production of the Environment Show!
Well done to all students and staff involved in this excellent final performance that we will have in the Brit Club. The students were a real credit to the school, we are all very proud of them and they deserve a huge amount of praise for such an energetic and impressive performance. It is always a pleasure to see all students involved and taking part in performances as we continue to provide opportunities for all at Nadeen School. Thank you to all parents for supporting this event and for your encouragement. Although it is a time for celebration, it fills me with excitement to think about how our students will enjoy using our new Performance Theatre in our new campus in Dilmunia. With better facilities, more space for everyone and more seating, we will finally have a platform to showcase these student events.
Each day I see the students learn, perform, celebrate successes in their English and Maths progress and it has been the best way to finish the school year. Seeing the students happy with their learning, enjoying playing with friends and having strong relationships with their teachers is a joy to see.
My sincere thanks to parents for sending such lovely emails to our teachers over the last few weeks, it really does make such a difference. Our staff are fantastic, and I am lucky to have such a dedicated and committed team of professionals to work with. Thank you for showing your gratitude and I very much appreciate it when parents can give positive feedback to the teachers. They go above and beyond every day!
Thank you to everyone who attended the Early Years Open Morning, another great event from our team to invite parents into the classroom and learning areas.
Last week, we celebrated the fabulous PIRA and PUMA results showing the progress by our students in Literacy and Numeracy. To see the progress by our individual students from a variety of different starting points is very pleasing. They have had a marvelous year with their levels in Literacy and Numeracy and we have seen these increase in comparison to international and UK standards. Thank you to all staff and parents for your encouragement and support.
Thank you to all parents who have already volunteered to join the new school boards and the Nadeen Community Association, we have had over 20 applicants in the first week which is great news. The Nadeen Community Association will be a group of parents, volunteers, members of the community and others representing businesses that come together to support the school through events, school projects and supporting one another. If you are interested in joining our Nadeen Community Association, please register your interest here.
For those of you around in Bahrain during the summer, I will be organizing a series of optional/informal coffee mornings in the new building to meet parents and then for parents to visit the areas of the school.
These were moved from this month (Coffee with the Principal) to August and also increased from 1 event to 4 morning events! So that’s a lot of coffee and it will allow everyone to get a sneak preview of the building before the start of the year, if you are available.
More information will be sent out (Please note that these do not replace the formal start of year events that are scheduled for the first week and included below). The normal Coffee with the Principal will return in August for everyone.
As a reminder, this was shared out in the last 2 weeks of updates, we have confirmed the first events for the upcoming school year as included below:
Thursday 24 August 2023 (Orientation Day + Family social event)
Sunday 27 August 2023 (First Day of School for all students Term 1)
Monday 28 August 2023 (Presentation – Meet the teacher)
Tuesday 29 August 2023 (Presentation – ECA’s/Sport at Nadeen/International Trips)
Wednesday 30 August 2023 (Presentation – Inclusion Department)
Please save the dates above as these are days when we welcome the community back into the school for the new Academic Year.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Dr Paul Walton

- This option of walking students on site remains open for parents of children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1, as normal.
- Also, we have the option for any new parents to drop off their children to the class for the first 2 weeks.
- After this, Year 2 to Year 7 students must be dropped off at the front of the school.
- Only parents of Nursery, Reception and Year 1 should be accompanying students to their classrooms.
- Parents of students in Year 2 to 7 must make an appointment to see the teacher (to avoid disrupting learning, lessons, target time), an email to the teacher or to contact the reception if this is an emergency.

As you might have seen, this summer it was announced that it is no longer mandatory for schools to provide Virtual Learning for students, shared by the Ministry of Education on Tuesday 2nd August 2022.
The Ministry of Education has announced that the syllabus system for the coming academic year 2022/23 in all kindergartens, schools, universities, government and private educational institutions at all stages will be mandatory attendance for all students. The ministry clarified that there would be no choice for parents to attend their children to receive in-person or remotely learning, assuring its keenness to provide for all the requirements for a successful back to school.
At Nadeen School, following the announcement from the Ministry above, our provision for learning will be on site.
For students unable to attend or overseas, we will offer an extra provision to help support with Year 3 and above, including:
- Students will be included in Google classrooms to have the same access as those onsite.
- A link to a curriculum plan for all year groups.
- A weekly class email from the teacher.
- An appointment to discuss your child/their progress over email or an online meeting when required.
- Access to our book list covered in school.
- The resources from the online subscriptions used on site will be available.
- An opportunity for a teacher/student conference if needed, as directed by the class teacher.
We hope all students have the opportunity to be back on site. We look forward to the new academic year and following the Ministry guidance above for our students at school.
