Update from the Principal – 23rd March

Update from the Principal.

Dear Parents,

This week we have had a wonderful assembly to introduce and start Ramadan here at Nadeen School.  Students presented about Ramadan, sang songs, explained fasting, what it means and how we can help etc.  It was an excellent way to spread awareness and understanding about Ramadan and how we can all support this.  We can all get involved by respecting the fasting, dress code expectations, music etc.

Thank you to our PTA and volunteers for the coffee this week at drop off, a treat and a brilliant way to start the day.  Thank you for this kindness.

Students have also celebrated house points, Science Fair entries, Drama and also completing our English block this week in our whole school assembly.

We have had 3 awareness Days this week to cover UK Mother’s Day, World Downe Syndrome Day, and World Water Day.  These are opportunities to show appreciation, build knowledge and understanding of important days celebrated in various countries.  Our next coffee with the Principal will be 8.00am, Thursday 4th May due to Ramadan.

From a personal point of view, I was absolutely blown away by the energy from the students during the Science Fair.  It was incredible! Every entry, model and experiment deserved a huge amount of credit to the students who did such a wonderful job.  Congratulations to them all.  A big thank you to our families in the community for supporting the event not only in person by coming along but also for your help with our students to create experiments, build models and the hours of practice that had taken place! I can’t imagine the amount of cardboard, water, chemical reactions, volcanos and food dye used at home! An amazing effort and thank you.

This week we are proud to upload our eighth ‘Student Voice’ article to our website page and if you have a moment, please read it here.  Student Voice is important at Nadeen School through the opportunity to publish articles on our website, the student council, student surveys, student-led projects, and assemblies to much more.

Also this week, I’ve had a great opportunity to visit classes again to see the early morning routines that teachers provide as students arrive each day.  These are the activities, tasks and games that teachers use as a part of the welcome/greeting each morning.  It is essential to start the day off with time to connect with the students, to check in and also for the students to have time to be social with one another.  Our teachers are excellent at this and it is a real strength of the school.  I popped in to see Reception, Year 2 and Year 7 this week.  Next week is Nursery and Year 1.

With Ramadan starting, we have a special message for our community below this section, as shared out last week.

Have a wonderful weekend

Ramadan

Dear Parents,

Ramadan is scheduled to begin next week. For parents who are new to Bahrain or to the school, please note that we extend to our Muslim staff, parents, students, and visitors the same courtesies and sensitivities extended to all Muslims during this time.

It is part of school policy for our staff to adhere to a modest dress code at all times of the year, in respect of the culture in which we all live. Please note that we also require – and expect – parents to observe a modest dress code when dropping off and collecting children from school, especially during this time. For parents who come to school in gym/sports clothes, we respectfully ask that you are modestly covered while on the school grounds (car park and within the campus walls.)

Please also note that we cannot permit adults to eat or drink in the playground, carpark, or common areas during fasting hours. The children are permitted to eat and drink as normal throughout the day, and any adults are permitted and indeed welcomed to do so in the school Staff Room if necessary.

Pauline, Paul, Shanee, the Leadership Team and all Nadeen School staff would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families observing this special month a very peaceful Ramadan with your dear family and friends.

Coffee with the Principal

I look forward to the next Coffee with the Principal at Thursday 4th May 2023, 8.00am – 9.00am.

Drop Off Point

Please can parents use the Drop Off Point, if possible, in the mornings.

Drop Off – Parents on site

  • This option of walking students on site remains open for parents of children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1, as normal.
  • Also, we have the option for any new parents to drop off their children to the class for the first 2 weeks.
  • After this, Year 2 to Year 7 students must be dropped off at the front of the school.
  • Only parents of Nursery, Reception and Year 1 should be accompanying students to their classrooms.
  • Parents of students in Year 2 to 7 must make an appointment to see the teacher (to avoid disrupting learning, lessons, target time), an email to the teacher or to contact the reception if this is an emergency.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and support.

Urgent Communication

All urgent updates continue to be sent via email or SMS for emergencies (School Closure).

Please monitor your emails for future updates as this continues to be the best way to send out clear and consistent communication to all parents. Check that you are receiving emails, have enough space in your email folder, that they do not go to your ‘junk’ folder and if you are unsure, please contact info@nadeenschool.com, see reception or phone on +97317728886 to personally check your contact email and phone number on record.

If you change any contact details, please inform the school immediately.

Health and Safety

All urgent Health and Safety announcements will be sent directly to parents via email.

We will continue to work together to follow all health and precautionary measures to prevent the spread of diseases as recommended by the Ministry of Health specialists. Together with your constant cooperation and taking responsibility by keeping your children at home when feeling ill, will also have a significant impact in limiting the spread of diseases.  Thank you to all members of the community in advance for this.

Please keep your child at home if he/she is ill, has flu or cold symptoms

Virtual Learning

As you might have seen, this summer it was announced that it is no longer mandatory for schools to provide Virtual Learning for students, shared by the Ministry of Education on Tuesday 2nd August 2022.

The Ministry of Education has announced that the syllabus system for the coming academic year 2022/23 in all kindergartens, schools, universities, government and private educational institutions at all stages will be mandatory attendance for all students.  The ministry clarified that there would be no choice for parents to attend their children to receive in-person or remotely learning, assuring its keenness to provide for all the requirements for a successful back to school.

At Nadeen School, following the announcement from the Ministry above, our provision for learning will be on site.

For students unable to attend or overseas, we will offer an extra provision to help support with Year 3 and above, including:

  1. Students will be included in Google classrooms to have the same access as those onsite.
  2. A link to a curriculum plan for all year groups.
  3. weekly class email from the teacher.
  4. An appointment to discuss your child/their progress over email or an online meeting when required.
  5. Access to our book list covered in school.
  6. The resources from the online subscriptions used on site will be available.
  7. An opportunity for a teacher/student conference if needed, as directed by the class teacher.

We hope all students have the opportunity to be back on site.  We look forward to the new academic year and following the Ministry guidance above for our students at school.
