Update from the Principal.

Dear Parents,

We have ended our week with some amazing news! – our group of ‘Planet Protectors’ have received international recognition for their composting project in the Eco Films Awards. This is an incredible success as this competition was open to all schools in the group worldwide and Nadeen School were up against some extremely high standard student-led initiatives. We are so proud of the students and the work they have done. Congratulations to all students involved, Ms Rien for supporting the club and everyone else involved. Please see the judges comments below:

Judges’ comments: This informative film told the story of the school’s composting of food waste. The project addressed a real issue by a practical strategy resulting in useful outcomes (compost for plants). It was straightforward and effective. The involvement of school hens as part of the strategy was good to see, as was the incorporation of shredded office paper.

Well done to our students! A huge amount of praise should go to our amazing students and teachers for the awards and accreditations we have gained this year. These are now updated on our school accreditations page showing our ongoing commitment to quality assurance and offering the highest quality of education possible at Nadeen School. In 2022/23 the staff have led awards in:

A brilliant year so far. We have four new articles on our latest news page below for you to enjoy (written by Mr Gerry, Ms Stephanie, Ms Sarah and Ms Roz). We have also prepared for the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III by enjoying a range of activities in class today with our students excited for the event coming up soon. A note below from Ms Shanee regarding a survey sent out to parents in connection with our new building and our Food survey, please fil this in when you have a minute. Finally, a special mention to Ms Suzanne and all year groups involved in planting trees this week as part of CCS, a very exciting project.

Student Food catering services at our Dilmunia Campus

Dear Parents,

Here is a new school update regarding student food services! At the moment all students bring a packed snack and lunch from home into school with them each day. Based on parent feedback and requests we are looking at options for a student food service once we are in our new school – a facility whereby parents and students can choose to order their snack and lunch in advance to be delivered to them at school each day.

We are in the first round of the tender process for our new school Café and food services provider. We’re looking for a local provider with a healthy, nutritious menu and a sustainable approach to food services, as well as someone who compliments and can further enhance our commitment towards developing a healthy, active, vibrant school community. Part of the tender process involves menu development and includes having an understanding of our school community food and beverage requirements and requests.

Please click on this survey here and provide as much feedback as you can so that we can include as much information into the process as possible.

Once the vendor has been selected we will move into the next stage which will be menu development, rounded off with final menu development. The Café area will be developed first and then the student food services will follow after that.

Drop Off Point

Please can parents use the Drop Off Point, if possible, in the mornings.

Drop Off – Parents on site

This option of walking students on site remains open for parents of children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1, as normal.
Also, we have the option for any new parents to drop off their children to the class for the first 2 weeks.
After this, Year 2 to Year 7 students must be dropped off at the front of the school.
Only parents of Nursery, Reception and Year 1 should be accompanying students to their classrooms.
Parents of students in Year 2 to 7 must make an appointment to see the teacher (to avoid disrupting learning, lessons, target time), an email to the teacher or to contact the reception if this is an emergency.

Morning Drop off – The gates open each morning at 7.35am, if parents would like to drop students off earlier in school, please email Miss Karen about the breakfast club from 7.00am.
Communication – the next Coffee morning is on Thursday 4th May 2023, 8.00am – 9.00am.. An opportunity to hear updates, plans moving forward and to meet other parents.

Urgent Communication

All urgent updates continue to be sent via email or SMS for emergencies (School Closure).

Please monitor your emails for future updates as this continues to be the best way to send out clear and consistent communication to all parents. Check that you are receiving emails, have enough space in your email folder, that they do not go to your ‘junk’ folder and if you are unsure, please contact info@nadeenschool.com, see reception or phone on +97317728886 to personally check your contact email and phone number on record.

Health and Safety

All urgent Health and Safety announcements will be sent directly to parents via email.

We will continue to work together to follow all health and precautionary measures to prevent the spread of diseases as recommended by the Ministry of Health specialists. Together with your constant cooperation and taking responsibility by keeping your children at home when feeling ill, will also have a significant impact in limiting the spread of diseases. Thank you to all members of the community in advance for this.

Virtual Learning

As you might have seen, this summer it was announced that it is no longer mandatory for schools to provide Virtual Learning for students, shared by the Ministry of Education on Tuesday 2nd August 2022.

The Ministry of Education has announced that the syllabus system for the coming academic year 2022/23 in all kindergartens, schools, universities, government and private educational institutions at all stages will be mandatory attendance for all students. The ministry clarified that there would be no choice for parents to attend their children to receive in-person or remotely learning, assuring its keenness to provide for all the requirements for a successful back to school.

At Nadeen School, following the announcement from the Ministry above, our provision for learning will be on site.

For students unable to attend or overseas, we will offer an extra provision to help support with Year 3 and above, including:

Students will be included in Google classrooms to have the same access as those onsite.
A link to a curriculum plan for all year groups.
A weekly class email from the teacher.
An appointment to discuss your child/their progress over email or an online meeting when required.
Access to our book list covered in school.
The resources from the online subscriptions used on site will be available.
An opportunity for a teacher/student conference if needed, as directed by the class teacher.

We hope all students have the opportunity to be back on site. We look forward to the new academic year and following the Ministry guidance above for our students at school.
