Update from the Principal – 7th March

Update from the Principal

Dear Parents,

Today is Book Day! – Thank you for starting the day so brightly with a fantastic array of fun costumes across all age groups of the school. It really has added an exciting element to the day and created a great atmosphere for our students!

Last weekend, I attended the choirfest at the Cultural Hall to watch our students performing on stage in front of a packed audience. The students were incredible. Thank you to Mr Tom and Miss Agnes for organising this, supporting the students and the rehearsals. To see our students perform with such confidence, energy and enthusiasm was a joy to see. We also supported the Manama Singers who included members of staff and parents from our community. We really appreciate the time, encouragement and dedication of the parents who attended and we look forward to the next event.

This week, we had a whole school celebration for our students arriving back from the BSME (British Schools Middle East) tournament and we had a parent in front of the entire school to recognise all of their achievements:

Basketball: Winners
Athletics: Runners Up
Overall final competition place: 4th place

At the end of the sports season, we have planned to bring in all students for all sports teams and to do the same to wrap up a very successful sports season. A sincere thank you to Mr Matt, Mr Kyle, all staff helpers, all staff that have supported going above and beyond and the entire team for creating a positive, growth mindset towards what our students can achieve. We have a wonderful momentum with our students believing they can compete, work together and win. It is great to see and all down to the efforts of everyone working together. We look forward to the future sporting events!

At Nadeen School we respectfully follow Ramadan and have completed the decorations in the school and arrangements for the upcoming weeks. The changes to the ECAs are listed below:

For those observing Ramadan, the school day will finish at 2 pm.

Parents are requested to contact their child’s class/form tutor as soon as possible to inform them if their child is fasting. If they are, please also let their teacher know whether you would prefer your child to spend their break time indoors, or would like your child to make this decision for themselves daily.

For those not observing Ramadan:

    1. The normal ECA schedule of all clubs will not run for paid or free ECAs provided by Nadeen School Staff.
    2. An ECA basic supervision will be in place and will continue until 3.30 pm (covered internally to look after students) if you wish to utilize this supervision (sign up here) and normal ECAs will not run that are organised by Nadeen Staff.
    3. External Vendors (24N, Harmony, etc.) will continue as normal from the normal times. Please contact them directly if you have any further questions.
    4. Our regular ECA provision will return on Sunday 14th April. This will be released to parents on Sunday 17th March to sign up.

Drive-by collection will continue for those already signed up through Ramadan, please email Miss Kate to confirm that you will be using the service and which days this will be required.

We hope this can cater to all students and also respectfully follow Ramadan as a school community.

A quick reminder for all parents to slow down when driving in or around the school building. We need to drive to the speed limit and conditions around the building which include crosswalks, students walking, and pedestrians moving between areas. Please be mindful of reversing, street parking and the use of mobile phones. I thank you in advance for this, your positive response and understanding and we continue to remind all adults. The purpose behind this is to keep everyone safe from our students, to staff, parents, and visitors to the site.

As mentioned in term 1, we improved our Arabic provision and have put in place a long term plan for this.

    • We have added 1 new teacher at the end of term 1 this academic year.
    • We added 65 sessions before, during, and after school to support the Arabic language.
    • 2 new teachers will join at the end of term 2 to further split classes.
    • Classes have started to be split to focus on Arabic and non-Arabic speakers.
    • From August 2024, classes will be split into 3 groups which will include Beginners, Intermediate (with some help in English), and Advanced (with help in Arabic language only).
    • This approach will be across the school.

Next week we have Mother’s Day on Sunday and then Speech Day on Wednesday. This weekend we look forward to our annual Beach clean-up. I look forward to seeing members of our community and a collaborative effort to really raise awareness for the beaches and the environment. Thank you in advance for giving up your time and getting involved!

Have a great weekend!

Urgent Communication

All urgent updates continue to be sent via email or SMS for emergencies (School Closure).

Please monitor your emails for future updates as this continues to be the best way to send out clear and consistent communication to all parents. Check that you are receiving emails, have enough space in your email folder, that they do not go to your ‘junk’ folder and if you are unsure, please contact info@nadeenschool.com, see reception or phone on +97317728886 to personally check your contact email and phone number on record.

If you change any contact details, please inform the school immediately.

Health and Safety

All urgent Health and Safety announcements will be sent directly to parents via email.

We will continue to work together to follow all health and precautionary measures to prevent the spread of diseases as recommended by the Ministry of Health specialists. Together with your constant cooperation and taking responsibility by keeping your children at home when feeling ill, will also have a significant impact in limiting the spread of diseases.  Thank you to all members of the community in advance for this.

Please keep your child at home if he/she is ill, has flu or cold symptoms

Virtual Learning

Last year it was announced that it is no longer mandatory for schools to provide Virtual Learning for students, shared by the Ministry of Education in August 2022.

The Ministry of Education has announced that the syllabus system for the coming academic year 2022/23 in all kindergartens, schools, universities, government and private educational institutions at all stages will be mandatory attendance for all students.  The ministry clarified that there would be no choice for parents to attend their children to receive in-person or remotely learning, assuring its keenness to provide for all the requirements for a successful back to school.

At Nadeen School, following the announcement from the Ministry above, our provision for learning will be on site.
