Teacher Feature – Miss Sophie

Briefly describe your journey as a teacher.

Becoming a teacher and working in a school has always been a dream of mine. Teaching runs in my family so it was always very familiar. When I started working in schools, I was in the classroom with older children but after experiencing teaching younger children, I knew that’s where I belonged!

Why did you decide to specialise in your chosen area?

After experiencing different age groups, I felt more fulfilled teaching Early Years children. I believe every day should be fun and exciting and who has more excitement in them than little children?! My mum was also an Early Years teacher so I had spent lots of time in her classroom too! I love watching children experiment, explore and learn through play. Watching them make “mistakes” and learning to do things differently is so fascinating and it is such an honour to watch them grow and mature throughout the year!

What makes Nadeen such a unique place to work?

Nadeen has such a huge family feel to it. Everyone is so kind and helpful and so compassionate towards the children. Everyone here at Nadeen are always developing both professionally and personally to better their teaching practices to benefit children and everyone around them. The support system within the school is fantastic as well and no one ever feels lost!

How would you describe a typical day at Nadeen?

A typical day starts with lots of smiles and happy faces as the children come into the classroom to see their friends and explore the area! I love seeing how comfortable the children become coming into school and how happy they are to move around and explore all our amazing resources and learning spaces. My day ends with some very tired little children who have had such fun throughout the day- A high five and a wave to say goodbye!
