Nadeen School Celebration

Nadeen School Celebration by Miss Kate

Nadeen School. Children first, always. They are the reason we are here; as a community, we do what we do for the students.

Following our formal inauguration event where the school was officially opened by H.E. Sh. Khalid Bin Abdulla, Deputy Prime Minister on Tuesday 16th October, we wanted to ensure we had a celebration centred around our students. This took place on Thursday 25th April.

Nadeen School is just a pile of bricks, cement, and paint. It’s our community and substance that makes us so special. That’s why, today, our teachers, friends, and principal are here to remind us that every single one of the people in this room has a lasting impact on Nadeen, forever. That’s why we have an alumni wall. It’s why we like celebrating our differences, and our values. Imagine a school without kids. It just wouldn’t add up, and wouldn’t make sense. We’re here today because we have a role to play. Without just one of those roles, none of the others would be able to do their part.

A select group of students from Primary and Secondary came together to work on a presentation for the rest of the school. This entailed looking back at how far the school has come and the changes that have taken place since the initial opening in 1978. The students prepared slides to showcase photos from the previous campus along with facts about our current campus. Did you know that this is Nadeen School’s fourth campus? Did you know that over 3,000 people were involved in the building of the current campus from planning to construction and finishing?

All students and staff from Reception through to Year 9 came together for this special assembly. Our magnificent choir begun the assembly with snippets of our upcoming production of Matilda which captivated the audience from the start. The students introduced Dr. Paul to share a few words and he focused on the changes that have come about at Nadeen School and how the students have embraced and transitioned through. He reminded the students, ‘this school is yours’.

We had two special visitors, Miss Shanee and Miss Pauline, whom the students explained ‘without them, this school would not be possible’. Miss Shanee shared a few heartwarming words of encouragement to the students and left them with her favourite quote…

Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think and loved more than you know.

It was heartwarming to hear the students speak so fondly of their school at the Nadeen School Celebration. Regardless of their length of time at Nadeen, everyone is very much a part of the fabric of the school and this was evident in the celebration and picnic.

Following the whole school assembly celebration, the students and families were invited to join in a community picnic on the school grounds. Families came together to relax, enjoy, eat, connect, and enjoy the facilities and had a wonderful time. There was a live music performance from one of our Secondary students on the accordion which really set the tone for a fun-filled afternoon! This really was a special event enjoyed by so many.
