Teacher Feature – Mr Stewart.

Briefly describe your journey as a teacher.

Growing up, like many kids, I had some excellent teachers who valued their job immensely and took  great pride in empowering their students with knowledge about their subject. For me, I had an excellent  mathematics teacher and she demonstrated everything I value in a teacher – compassion, someone who  makes their lessons engaging and has a lifelong love of learning, just to name a few. From leaving high  school, I went to college and then university to study politics and then moved onto my PGDE at the  University of Strathclyde. It was from here that I graduated and have taught in various stages across the  school years!

Why did you decide to specialise in your chosen area?

For me, I like to have my own class and watch them grow and develop in their learning from when they  first arrive in my class to their very last day in my class. Observing the children develop their sense of  curiosity when learning – on a daily basis, – is key to this enjoyment. I distinctly remember all the  teachers I had in primary school and I look to replicate their love of teaching in my own practice  consistently. Also, there are so many curricular areas that I love to teach from music to mathematics to  PE, it’s so hard to narrow down to one area to specialise in!

What makes Nadeen such a unique place to work?

When you first arrive at Nadeen, you immediately feel welcomed into its distinctive campus. The school  really does have a sense of deep community within it, from the pupils themselves to the staff and the  parents. At Nadeen, the staff really are a team who strive together to provide the best learning  opportunities for the students – it’s a wonderful feeling of togetherness that Nadeen rightly prides itself  on.

How would you describe a typical day at Nadeen?

No day at Nadeen is ever the same with a range of opportunities arising from sports, teamwork and  other areas of collaboration. What you do get every day is radiant positivity from students and staff  alike. Students are always keen to learn and grow in their love for learning. Nadeen has been such a  wonderful place to work in and I am very thankful to have this opportunity to work in such a caring school environment.
