Teacher Feature – Miss Martina
Briefly describe your journey as a teacher.
I was born in Ireland and taught there for one year. I decided to make the move over to the Middle East and Bahrain was my first choice, I have been in Bahrain for over seven years and have taught in various schools. I have been teaching Early Years all the way during my teaching career.
Why did you decide to specialise in your chosen area?
First and foremost, the Early Years are a pivotal time in a child’s development. It is during this stage that children lay the foundation for their future academic, social, and emotional success. By choosing Early Years as a career, you have made a commitment to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for children to thrive in. Your efforts have the potential to make a lasting impact on their lives, setting them up for a lifetime of learning. The joy of teaching Early Years is unparalleled. Witnessing a child’s first steps, hearing their first words, and seeing their eyes light up with curiosity as they explore the world around them are all moments that teachers in this field are fortunate to experience. Your patience, creativity, and ability to connect with young children on their level are what make you exceptional educators. Additionally, Early Years educators have the privilege of working in a field that is constantly evolving. With new research and knowledge emerging regularly, you have the opportunity to continuously refine your teaching practices and stay at the forefront of educational advancements. Your commitment to professional development and your willingness to embrace change are what make you adaptable and effective teachers.
