Nadeen School Sports Days – 2022

Nadeen School Sports Days

EYFS Sports Day
_
On Monday morning, our EYFS children braved the basking winter sun to take part in the annual EYFS Sports Day. The children, draped in their house colours, had the opportunity to showcase their skills to their parents for the first time.
The children were tasked with four different stations that demonstrated a range of different skills they have learnt so far this year in PE. They had a beanbag toss, football shooting, relay race and an obstacle course. All of the children had a fantastic morning with lots of cheering and teamwork!
Once the children’s events had finished, we held the annual teacher race and parents race. Miss Louise retained her title, this year dominating the egg & spoon race.

KS1 Sports Day
_
Our Y1 & 2 children took part in their annual sports day on Monday. With a large amount of support from parents, the children braved the unusual December heat to complete 8 different activities. The children were kitted out in their house colours, all attempting to win as many house points as they could. The activities varied from football shooting to a challenging obstacle course.

After the events had concluded Miss Kate totted up the score sheets, and amazingly all 4 houses won exactly 2 events each, in turn, earning 50 house points. Meanwhile, the much anticipated teacher race was about to start, after a strong start from Mr. Jack & Miss Hannah (Awal), Mr. Liam from Dilmun showed electric speed to take home the win for Dilmun.

Y3 & 4 Sports Day
_
On Tuesday, the children from Year 3 & 4 demonstrated their athletic ability and sportsmanship during a fantastic Sports Day. The children were tasked with 8 different events where they endeavoured to gain as many house points as they could.

All houses started off well, the scores were close throughout the whole event, with all 4 houses swapping places throughout. At the conclusion of the student events, it was over to the parent race where the parents were running for their child’s house. Aradous & Dilmun gained a valuable win to make the scores even closer. Whilst Miss Kate totted up the final scores it was over to the much anticipated teacher race. Despite a strong start, Mr. Matt was unable to reel in Mr. Kyle as the PE team took home a 1-2, with Mr. Stew finishing in a commendable 3rd place.

Y5, 6 & 7 Sports Day
_
Our Y5, 6 & 7s Sports Day had a more competitive feel, as the children were striving to not only win house points but also gold, silver or bronze medals. The children started off completing their field events, which included the Tennis Ball throw, Shot Put, Javelin, Long Jump & Triple Jump. There were many notable performances;
– Ali S (6GA) won the Long Jump & Triple Jump for the 2nd year in a row
– Talib (7SA) threw a massive 17.10m to win Gold in the Javelin.
– Nikky (7SA) retained her Shot Put title with a powerful 6.50m.

After a short snack break to refuel, it was over to the track events. The children participated in a number of Sprint heats and 1 lap heats attempting to qualify for the semi-finals and finals. In a highly competitive girls sprint (50m) final, Yasmina (7SA) picked up the gold medal as she just held off the late surge of Lola (7SA). Ali S (6GA), picked up his 3rd gold medal of the day in the boys 1 lap race, just pipping the determined Arthur (5KT). Arthur was to finally get himself on the top podium as he dead-heated the boys Sprint final with Jason (5KT). The penultimate races of the day saw siblings Talib (7SA) & Yasmina (7SA) take home the golds in the boys & girls 2 lap races.

Once again, it was over to Miss Kate to calculate the final scores. The atmosphere was tense, the children waiting eagerly to find out the final result. After an impressive 13 gold medals, it was Aradous who were announced as the overall winners, closely followed by Awal, Tylos & Dilmun.

Despite the competitiveness and the childrens’ will to win, sportsmanship, camaraderie and teamwork was evident throughout.
