Creativity, Curiosity and Keyboards

Creativity, Curiosity and Keyboards by Mr Tom

From pop, dance, and rock music, keyboards have become an important part of music this term. They have helped the children to learn about different genres of music, and the features of those genres, and have even helped them to learn to read musical notation.

I enjoy music because it is relaxing. My favourite part about playing the keyboard is learning the notes. When I play music, I feel like dancing. When I listen to music, I feel calm. Music helps me because it makes me feel joyful.

Jeyna, Year 4

Over the last few weeks, students have performed on the piano in the foyer of the drop off entrance as their friends arrived at school. This not only gave the performers the opportunity to share their talent but also the chance to grow in confidence while performing in front of an audience. If you would like the opportunity to perform, book a thirty minute slot using this link.

I enjoy music because it is very creative and fun! My favourite part about playing the keyboard is how it sounds and how satisfying it is to press the keys and make music. When I play music, I feel happiness! When I listen to music, I like how it sounds. I like any kind of music, but some songs make me feel happy, and some make me feel sad. Music helps me stay calm.

– Andrés, Year 4

There will be many more performance opportunities in the future including recitals and competitions. One of the Year 7 children was brave enough to be the first Nadeen pupil to perform a solo on the new Performance Theatre stage. We are looking forward to hearing more soloists during our primary and secondary assemblies, so please contact Mr Tom (th.matthias@nadeenschool.com) if you would like the opportunity to perform.
