Basketball Year 5, 6 and 7

Year 5, 6 and 7.

To celebrate the conclusion of the term, our basketball club took on Riffa Views in a friendly tournament. The club is made up of children from Y5, 6 & 7, and they have been working hard throughout the Autumn term, improving and developing their basketball skills.

Our 17 children were split into 3 teams and played 3 fixtures each against their RVIS opposition. Our Nadeen ‘Green’ team won 2 and were unfortunate to lose their other game. Nadeen ‘Orange’ won 1 and lost 2 but showed excellent skills and teamwork against more experienced basketballers. Nadeen ‘White’ was made up of mainly Year 7 students and they had their first experience of Senior School sport, as they took the the RVIS Year 8 team. Despite encountering physicality and power, of which our players have not faced before, our Nadeen White team, ran out 12-8 winners. Led by captain Mahmoud, the team put on a shooting clinic to secure the victory. The game plan from the off was to press and ‘spoil’ to disrupt RVIS rhythm before hitting on the counter and ensuring we were accurate when it came to shooting.

“It’s amazing to see how far our students have come during this term of the basketball club. This was the perfect way to end a successful term!” – Ms. Jen, Assistant Coach

“I had a really good time. It was good to challenge ourselves against some older children. We drew the first third 2-2, but I was happy we managed to bounce back and get the win in the later part of the game” – Talib, 7SA

As ever, our Nadeen students represented the school fantastically, not just on the court but off it as well. Exemplary behaviour, sportsmanship and teamwork was evident throughout.
