Mr. James Weekly Reflection – 5th September

Mr. James Weekly Reflection

Dear Nadeen Family,

I hope this message finds you well and ready for the weekend. It’s been another fun and fantastic week here at Nadeen, filled with celebrations and those special moments that truly make being an educator so rewarding.

One highlight of the week was seeing our HPL Award winners receive their certificates. Their dedication to showcasing a range of our Values, Attitudes, and Attributes (VAA’s) was truly inspiring. For instance, the confidence demonstrated by some of our learners  in public speaking was remarkable. As many of you know, public speaking can be a daunting task, but it’s such a vital life skill. I vividly remember my own early days as a teacher, where speaking in front of peers or parents would make me quite nervous. These days, I find that engaging with parents and discussing big ideas is often a highlight of my week, leaving me energised and inspired.

A special thanks to the Secondary parents and Ms. Pauline, who took the time to meet with myself and our amazing VP, Mr. Paul. It was wonderful to catch up and receive your valuable feedback, particularly on topics such as assessment. Your insights are crucial and greatly appreciated. It was lovely to have Pauline pop in to see us that day and she has promised me that she will come in more often to visit and also read with the learners. Awesome!

Next week, we will begin the GL CAT4 assessments with our learners. Please reassure your children that there’s nothing to worry about. The CAT4 assessments provide a unique profile of each learner’s strengths and areas for development, helping us tailor our approach to planning learning experiences and implementing strategies that support their growth over time.

I am thrilled to announce some exciting new leadership roles we’ve established to further support our school’s growth and enhance our learners’ experiences:

      • Ms. Natalie Foreman – Year 1 Leader
      • Ms. Suzanne Sultan – Year 2 Leader
      • Ms. Sarah Scanlon – Year 3 Leader
      • Ms. Nicole David – Year 4 Leader
      • Ms. Karlein Theron – Year 5 Leader
      • Ms. Cari Martin – Year 6 Leader
      • Mr. Joseph Zolna – Maths Leader
      • Ms. Bonnie Martin Jones – Years 1-3 Phase Leader
      • Mr. Chris Short – Year 7 and 8 Phase Leader
      • Mr. Phil Willis – Year 9 and 10 Phase Leader

I am confident that these new roles will significantly benefit our school community and support our continued development. As you will be aware we have traditionally used the motto ‘Small school, Big Family’. As we are no longer a small school we have been looking at how to develop this motto but keeping it aligned to the notion of being one family. After lots of discussions and collaboration we have narrowed this down to ‘Grow together, Thrive as one’. So far the feedback has been positive. But I would still be keen to hear your thoughts and  ideas; feel free to share them with me by email or as you see me around school.

Lastly, I am excited to remind you about our Inclusion talk this Sunday. We will be presenting our approach to inclusion at Nadeen and providing more information about our new ‘Thrive’ centre, which will enable us to support a greater range of learners with diverse needs. I am incredibly pleased about this initiative and look forward to sharing more details with you.

Thank you all for your ongoing support and commitment to our school. Here’s to another fantastic week ahead!
