Mr. James Weekly Reflection – 19th September

Mr. James Weekly Reflection

Dear Nadeen Family,

What an incredible week it has been at Nadeen! I was particularly inspired by our celebration of diversity and culture, which highlighted what makes each of us unique. I enjoyed discussing my Fred Perry top with some learners and connecting it to the Modernist approach to fashion, reflecting on how it shapes my hometown of Brighton.

The assembly today was a standout moment, with our learners speaking confidently and passionately about their love for Nadeen. Their heartfelt words truly resonated with me. To those who shared, thank you—I hear you, and I’m excited about the great experiences we have planned. A special thank you to the Year 7 parents who joined us and spent time in the secondary lessons. Your involvement means a lot. I hope you’ve noticed the enhancements around our learning environment, from new furniture to vibrant displays and plants. These improvements wouldn’t be possible without my fabulous team, whose dedication continues to amaze me. A huge shoutout to our site team, too—your hard work is turning our vision for Nadeen into reality, and I’m so grateful.

This week, even with its shorter duration, has allowed me to immerse myself in the school community and engage with our learners. The energy and enthusiasm during discussions about big ideas truly feeds my soul. I loved visiting Year 1 and 2 in the collaboration spaces—they were having such a great time!

I also want to give a special mention to our star of the week, Ms. Lauren’s dog, Ernie. He joined me in meetings and on a walk around the learning environment, stealing everyone’s hearts. We can’t wait for his next visit!

As we reflect on this wonderful week, I want to emphasise the importance of growing our community partnership further. I have always enjoyed working alongside the PTA in various settings, and I’m excited to invite volunteers to join our “Friends of Nadeen.” This group will support events, grow enrichment opportunities, and offer assistance in school —whether it’s helping with reading groups or other activities. If you’re interested in getting involved, please reach out to my PA, Ms. Hannah.

What a week it has been! Here’s to more learning and celebrating our uniqueness together!

Warmest regards,

Mr. James Batts
