Mr. James Weekly Reflection
Dear Nadeen Family,
This week began with an early start as I disembarked from a Sunday morning flight from a conference in Dubai and went straight to the British Embassy for our annual remembrance service. It was my first time attending, and it was a moving experience. Our secondary Head Boy, Armin, and Head Girl, Ela, did an exceptional job representing Nadeen with their reading, and I am incredibly proud of them both. They truly deserve recognition for their confidence and composure. A special thank you also goes to Miss Kate, who, as always, supported our learner leaders with her event expertise.
A highlight of the week was welcoming two Chelsea Pensioners, SSGT Barbara Myers and WO2 Albert Weastell, into our community. They visited Nadeen, meeting our learners and spending a memorable afternoon enjoying a spiffing tea with our staff and learner leaders. They captivated us with their fascinating stories and were genuinely delighted to be part of our community for the day.
On another note, I received a thoughtful question from a parent last week asking why we use the term “learners” instead of “students” or “pupils.” I’d like to share my response with everyone, as it touches upon our educational philosophy here at Nadeen. Using “learners” aligns with my vision for education as a dynamic, collaborative, and self-directed journey. This term positions individuals as active participants rather than passive recipients, emphasising ownership, curiosity, and resilience. By framing them as “learners,” we foster a culture of agency where they become co-creators in their own educational experiences, nurturing the critical thinking and adaptability needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Midweek, our boys’ Under-11 football team had a friendly match against Capital School. This game allowed them to showcase their growth in teamwork, tactical awareness, and resilience, all foundational aspects of high-performance learning. The boys put into practice their training on tactics and problem-solving, preparing them well for the upcoming Under-11 football tournament in two weeks. Well done to all!
Lastly, I want to remind everyone about our charity fun run at Dilmunia this Friday at 9 a.m. in support of the Migrant Workers Protection Program. For more details, please feel free to reach out to Kyle Lemmon, Sarah Scanlon, or Gerard Arthur.
Thank you all for your ongoing dedication and commitment to our Nadeen community.
