Mr. James Weekly Reflection – 12th September

Mr. James Weekly Reflection

Dear Nadeen Family,

It has certainly been another fantastic week here at Nadeen, and I hope you are all prepped for the long weekend. Just a quick reminder: Nadeen will be closed on Sunday in observance of the public holiday for Prophet Mohammad’s birthday. We’ll be open and raring to go on Monday!

I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended the Inclusion presentation on Sunday. It was truly wonderful to share our approach to inclusion and unveil our new ‘Thrive’ Achievement Centre. Pauline joined us for the second week in a row, and it was great to have her support. Shanee’s heartfelt introduction set the tone perfectly—powerful and moving!

Here’s a brief recap of the key points from the session:

This year, our learners requiring varying levels of additional support will be categorised as Wave 1, Wave 2, or Wave 3, depending on their needs. A significant change this year is that learners classified as Wave 1 will receive support in the classroom through quality first teaching, and there will be no additional charge for this support. Charges will remain the same as in previous years for Wave 2, Wave 3, and shadow teachers employed by the school on behalf of the family.

The ‘Thrive’ Achievement Centre is designed to support learners with more complex needs who might struggle to secure a school place, even at a school as inclusive as Nadeen. We understand the challenges families face and, as a learner-centered school, we are passionate about providing further support to our community and as a place of belongng. The fees for this provision are separate, and it will expand over time to include on-site specialists such as Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists etc. We are proud to have Ms. Katie McEwan as our Thrive Co-Ordinator, and she is happy to connect with anyone seeking more information.

A special thank you also goes out to the parents who attended the recent RLSB Lifesaver course. We are building wonderful community relationships with various providers to enhance our enrichment provision and support those who align with our mission. #Community

In secondary, we are thrilled to see the continued development of our curriculum. The new innovation curriculum now includes Food and Nutrition, Drama, Robotics, and Coding. Next week, we’ll be adding Spanish to the mix, along with a High Performance Learning (HPL) focused project-based lesson that will replace the previous target time. We look forward to welcoming Year 7 parents for their visit next week and hearing their feedback—exciting times ahead!

In Primary, Ms. Karlien shared that learners have been exploring a unit called ‘How We Express Ourselves,’ which also considers how that expression affects others and our own learning. This aligns well with HPL’s “Concern for Society” and supports learners with ideas related to ‘Metathinking.’ The unit features various stations for painting, music, drama, and a quiet zone for free expression. Mr. Danny’s enthusiasm about the unit—“It was amazing mate!”—says it all. #teamamazing

Finally, a big shout-out to all our learners who completed the GL CAT4 profiling assessment this week. I’ve heard you all did brilliantly, and I’m incredibly proud of you.

Enjoy the long weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday!
