Mr. James Weekly Reflection – 10th October

Mr. James Weekly Reflection

Dear Nadeen Family,

As we come to the end of this week, our focus has been on mental health and well-being, especially as today is World Mental Health Day. For some of our staff, the day started with a refreshing yoga session in the sports hall, led by Miss Samreen. From what I hear, it was a wonderful class and a perfect way to start the day. Miss Samreen, I believe many would love to make this a regular Thursday morning tradition!

I began my day a bit differently but equally meaningful, meeting with Dr. Frances under our Olive Tree in reception. We discussed introducing mindfulness into our Nadeen community, which I think could have a profound impact. As you know, we are part of the HPL (High Performance Learning) movement, and self-regulation is something we all need to focus on, not just to enhance learning but to nurture our well-being. I’ve experienced firsthand the incredible benefits that mindfulness can bring to a school community. If anyone would like to support this part of our journey, please feel free to drop by my office.

I also had the pleasure of attending the secondary assembly, which was both slick and powerful. Our learner leaders did an excellent job raising awareness about mental health and well-being. They shared some practical strategies like staying active, pursuing hobbies, and practicing gratitude, something I do daily. On that note, what are you grateful for today?

In addition to all of this, we also had an exciting moment on Wednesday when our U13 volleyball squads played their first matches of the year. We invited the Canadian School to our campus for friendly fixtures, and both our boys and girls showcased fantastic collaboration, confidence, and communication. Their hard work in training was evident in the speed and accuracy that led to victories for both teams. We’re now eagerly looking forward to the U13 volleyball tournaments after the half-term break. Go Nadeen Wolves!

Wishing you all a peaceful and restorative weekend.
